Kai is a part of Ovation's new VXT marketing campaign!! Check out some
clippage here: http://www.thevxt.com/mashups
As some of you may know, Kai wrote a screenplay called "Riding With Medusa" based on his song "French Quarter Chere"... well here's the latest:
On April 14th, with the help and coordination efforts of his good friend and partner in film, Eric Schrader (of COVIN) - Kai wrote and directed a short trailer for which featured the acting talents of CT's own Jason Herman as David, Jamia Weir as Felicity, Chris Taylor (also of COVIN) as Kevin, Tony Colapietro as the most authentic movie-cop ever...
...and last but not least, the amazing Sheri "Bomb" Toczko - of the notorious Bikini Bloodbath pictures - as Medusa...
This was an incredible shoot, with the greatest cast and crew ever... not to mention one of the finest mustaches to ever be captured, in all of it's bristling glory, on film...
In addition to this, my little monstrosities - there are deals in the works that are going to turn Kai's little dream into a big, fat reality. Kai is, at this very moment, working a deal with Fly High Films (based out of the Larchmont district in Los Angeles) to produce "Riding With Medusa" as the feature length film that it was always meant to be - with Kai in the director's chair, Eric Schrader behind the lens... and, even in these early stages, there is the possibility of a name actor stepping into one of the roles.
Here's some production photos from the making of the trailer...

...if it can be dreamed, it can be done. Believe it.

Kai Blackwood & the Tokyo Death Squad got some hella cool international
press yesterday, with articles appearing in both UMFJ (Underground Music
For Japan), and Australia's SugarbuzzMagazine.com....
Now drag those peepers over to the links and check it out - or face a
crushing Death By Sandwich....
Sorry for the lapse in updates, Squishies... it seems that MySpace is the
place where people are going for their KB&TDS news, updates, sandwiches
and random nonsensical poetry of indescribable DOOM...
SO for those of you who haven't been to the MySpace party (www.myspace.com/kaiblackwood),
I'm here to tell you that the "Calamity Tour '06" was f**king ferocious... we met tons of great and
weird people, played in the heart of SXSW in Austin, we rocked Dallas and got our DOOM on in
Nashville... In sadder news, my Ford Explorer died a valiant warrior's death in New Jersey... a
moment of silence, if you will...
Upon our return, we headed to the KOC in Torrington and KILLED it.... Torrington, CT owns, squirms & squirmettes.
Head on over to MySpace if you wanna see what I mean. It should be the fucking state capitol. Seriously.
And don't forget to pick up your copy of the new CD, "In From the Dark Side", which is available RIGHT NOW through
CDBaby.com, or come to a show (we've been on a little break, but new dates are coming as I type this) and get it there.
Thanks to EVERYONE who has made this year a great and DOOM filled pleasure. We love you. We really do.... except for
that kid over there. I really hate that kid.

Duke Gunn has just secured an endorsement deal with Warwick basses, and
will be stepping out on tour with a brand new Streamer Jazzman.
Congratulations, Duke!
The new CD from Kai Blackwood & the Tokyo Death Squad officially entitled
"In From the Dark Side", complete with cover art by Kai, is scheduled to be
released in two weeks, just in time for the band's southwestern tour...
YEEEEE-HA little doggies....
Kai Blackwood & the Tokyo Death Squad are heading out on the road
March 10th to play
the Texas Rockfest during SXSW in Austin, and along the way will
be performing in Columbus,
Nashville, Memphis, San Antonio and Dallas too.... returning on March 22nd
from the Tour of DOOM '06....
AND let's not forget that the new CD will be out in mid-February... a sneak
preview of the first single
"Spacehammer" will be available on PLAY magazine's first ever compilation
CD - available everywhere soon.
Now let's go spread some well-deserved DOOM.
Kai & the TDS are in the mixing stage of the new CD at Raging Dead Bird
Studios in Great Barrington, Mass. with fellow G Soul alum Rob Sanzone
behind the board. It's gonna be nothing short of NASTY.
I promise.
Preview 2 New Songs!!!!
Okay squishies... the DEMO versions of 2 songs
from the
upcoming new CD are available on the audio page... Many of you know
"Felicity" from the live shows as the ultimate closing song...
let me see
your devil horns... thank you...
carrying on...
"Spacehammer" has been a MONSTER live track and has earned
it's
place on the new disc which should be available in November. SO - keep in
mind, these are only the rough DEMO tracks for songs that will be on the
new CD - once the album comes out, you may not be able to get these
versions ANYwhere... so download 'em... burn 'em... and give them to
everyone that you know... Except for that one Robot Death Monkey... you
know
- the one with the hook and the melted ear. Stay away from him. He is
seriously creepy.
Also, if everyone is still up for that Halloween
grave-diggin field trip, email me.... I want to set it up before all the
good ones rot too much.... more. BOINK!
Howdy Squishies
Just a reminder to all that Kai Blackwood & the Tokyo Death Squad appear
in
the November issue of REVOLVER magazine...
yes... it's pretty tiny, but it IS there and that's what counts, oh fellow
human monsters!
SO pick up a copy before they're all snapped up by the rogue legion of
Robot Death Monkeys that's been terrorizing the poor patrons of Monique's
Diner & Nail Salon over in Albuquerque!!
*cough*.... awkward silence....
SO... in a nutshell - REVOLVER ...it's on the stands right now. GO GET
ONE.
And check the SHOWS section for a plethora of new
shows including 2 all ages events, as well as a major overhaul of the
photo
gallery, courtesy of webmistress extraordinaire, Rock Diva.... and look
closely... because YOU may even be in there!!

section of the November issue of Revolver Magazine. Be sure to pick one up.
Kai & the Death Squad are in the studio working on the follow-up to “…damned if you don’t”. The first single will be the blistering swamp-rock anthem, “Spacehammer”… the band has been testing the new material on live audiences to absolutely STELLAR response. The new CD, with the running title “Apologies Make Lousy F**king Parachutes” is slated for completion in Oct. ’05. You’ve been warned.
“17 Threads” has been chosen for the coveted Editor’s Pick list at Music Hype Online… check it out here: Editor's Pick
As many of you know, Kai has been doing double duty fronting Alcoholica. The band, comprised of Kai, Opus, Ron Zombie and the Mighty Ross has been gaining notoriety for being the nastiest Metallica tribute band ever. Shows will be listed somewhere on this site… most likely in the SHOWS section…
Look for “Pink Neon” to be on the upcoming DVD “The Girls of OzzBreast”…
The shows for the past couple of months have been outrageously fun and Kai & the TDS want to throw out big, wet thank you’s to everyone who has been coming out to the shows and spreading the word – we love you, Squishies… we really do.
New shirts are hot off the presses and selling quickly… and you know you want one too.
